Last night on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Leno offered the audience his unique style of gift-giving help with his Holiday Cyber Shopping monologue. In typical tongue-in-cheek Leno style, he compared high quality items with crazy/absurd—like Tiffany diamonds with Hollywood second-hand rings.

 At the 1.42 minute point, and with the Donna Salyers’ Fabulous-Furs Web site homepage on-screen, Leno described, “Fabulous-Furs, a company offering high-end faux fur” then, to great laughter, flipped to a shot of Donald Trump wearing a ludicrous animal skin toupee!!!  

If you were fast asleep, it’s easy to watch online, but Jay Leno’s audience is huge and here at Fabulous-Furs we’re all thrilled to be getting congratulatory phone calls and e-mails from those who were still awake, watching. We’ve always LOVED Jay, but today more than ever.

Our Saturday Salons have always had a beneficiary and for the 5^th consecutive year, we’ve donated to Cedarhill Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit for exotic animals, located in Caledonia, Mississippi.  It was wonderful to have founder Kay McElroy with us Saturday at this year’s Salon and to present her with a check that will help care for the lions, cougars, tigers, not to mention the less exotic cats, dogs and potbelly pigs that land on her doorstep.

Anyhow – this year’s donation amounted to $5,656.75 and if you were part of our sellout crowd, thanks again for your enthusiastic and loyal support.  If you’ve never attended a Salon, we hope you’ll join us in 2012 on Saturday, October 6. Meantime, take a look at some of Kay’s friends.

How fun to be doing a faux fur fashion show on Windy City LIVE, a Chicago TV show.  Co-host Val Warner introduced herself as “Oprah’s replacement” when we met a few months ago at a Chicago fashion event.  Windy City LIVE  airs on ABC in Chicago week days 9-10am and our segment is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11.  It means being at the TV studio at 7 am for a run-through with the models, well before our segment scheduled in the last half of the hour of the show.  The show streams live on the Internet, so our office can watch from our Covington, KY headquarters . . . and if you’re next to a computer, so can YOU!

Can you believe Christmas is less than 90 days away?  Are you one of those ridiculously well-organized people whose gifts are wrapped before Halloween?  Me neither . . . but I’ve vowed once again to shop earlier and more methodically.  Already our Call Center team speaks daily with customers checking off gift lists with throw purchases, children’s coats and of course, our holiday décor. 

Most notable in our Christmas Collection are our monogrammed fur-trimmed stockings and tree skirts, an oft-requested product that we’re thrilled to introduce this season.  Off-white satin is bordered with Winter White Mink in this over-size 60” skirt that can be personalized.  I can just picture having our grandchildren for a sleepover, lying next to the tree for bed-time stories . . . faces next to the soft faux fur trim.  How’s that for idyllic?  What you can’t see are our two cats, in love with their cushy new napping spot.

Do you have a lucky jacket? One that’s accompanied you to important meetings, a job search, a lucky banking encounter or random quest . . . always with successful outcomes. Like a best friend, a lucky jacket brings out the best of every situation.

So we’re wondering, if YOU had to pick, which Donna Salyers’ jacket would you choose to be your BFF? Okay, I’ll go first, but I’m choosing two.

I love the spare elegance of our  BFF jacket with the asymmetric collar.  I’ll choose Brown Mink over Ivory and the 21” length is just right for a petite. As chief copywriter, calling it a BBF in our Fall catalog felt just right. Think it will be perfect for business, off-duty AND dressy evenings.

My second pick is our  Sundance Jacket. Running between my office, our sewing workroom and warehouse, I see it over cords and a turtleneck. Love the wash-ability factor, along with the cozy Sherpa lining.
